Metal Detecting Pond Town

After fighting a round of gout in his knee, my Dad was back out metal detecting with me today.  We took a little drive South and stopped in Salem (formerly Pond Town).  We hunted the park next to the pond, now known as Salem pond.  I don't recall ever stopping here before, it was beautiful.  The weather was pleasant, but the metal detecting finds were sparse.  Most of the finds were very shallow, which tells me it is a new place or it has been hunted heavily in the past.
Since it was settled in 1851, I think the site has been hunted heavily.  I am sure the land scape has changed dramatically since 1851, but I had hopes of finding some older coins... it didn't happen.
Here is what I came away with after a few hours of hunting.  Highlights were the "Lucky Penny" key chain (at least it was lucky for me), and a small silver ring with an opal stone.

  1. I think the lucky penny keychain is the coolest thing you've found so far :)
