1869 Two Cents
Sometimes good things come from unlikely places. I found this to be true when metal detecting a children's play area. The sun was setting and the light was fading. Pin pointed a target and popped out what looked like a token and I dropped it in my pocket with the rest of my finds. It was not until I got home and examined my pocket full of finds that I learned it was not a token, but instead it was an 1869 two cent. The town in which I live was not incorporated until 1919. It is estimated that only 2500 of these coins survive today. Odds are that some kid raided his dad's coin collection and then dropped it in the playground. It would have been a better find if it came out of some historic site, but regardless of where it came from I was glad to find it.
